Before visitors see your site, you can preview it, review your changes, and decide when they go live. The Website Editor keeps editing and publishing separate so you stay in control.

Previewing your site

Preview mode lets you see your site exactly as visitors will see it.

To enter preview mode, click Preview in the top bar.

Path: Website Options Bar > Preview

In preview mode:

  • Editing controls are hidden

  • You cannot click or edit content

  • The site behaves like a live website

This is the best way to review layout, spacing, and overall flow before publishing.

Desktop and mobile preview

While previewing, you can switch between desktop and mobile views.

Your site automatically adjusts to different screen sizes, but it’s still important to check both views to make sure the design and content look right on all devices.

Returning to the editor

You can switch back to the editor at any time.

Leaving preview mode brings back editing controls so you can continue making changes.

Publishing your changes

Changes in the Website Editor are not saved automatically.

When you are ready to make your updates live, click Publish Changes.

Path:Website Options Bar > Publish Changes

Publishing:

  • Saves all changes from your current editing session

  • Makes those changes visible to visitors

  • Updates the live version of your site

If you leave the editor without publishing, your changes will be lost.

Understanding site visibility

You can control whether your site is visible to visitors and search engines.

From the website settings, you can:

  • Publish or unpublish your site

  • Allow or block search engines from indexing your site

This is useful if you are still working on your site or want to make changes privately.

Domains and preview URLs

Your site can be viewed using:

  • A free Durable domain included with your subscription

  • A custom domain you connect yourself

The Durable domain is useful for previewing your site in a real browser while you work. Custom domains are typically used when you are ready to share your site publicly. Domain setup is covered in a separate article.

A quick checklist before publishing

Before clicking Publish Changes, it’s a good idea to:

  • Preview the site

  • Check desktop and mobile views

  • Confirm navigation links

  • Review important pages

Once published, visitors will see the latest version immediately.
