Google Search Console helps you check whether Google can discover and index your website's pages. Connecting your Durable site starts with verifying that you own it, then submitting its sitemap. Follow the steps below to set up that connection and find useful checks if a page is not appearing as expected.
Before you begin
Use the final website address you want Google to index and make sure the website is published with search visibility enabled. Publishing makes the website available; Google decides when and whether to index it.
Verify ownership with an HTML tag
Open Google Search Console and add a URL-prefix property for the exact website address.
Choose the HTML-tag verification method and copy its verification meta tag.
In Durable, open site settings using the gear in the upper-right corner of the editor, then choose Integrations → Custom code.
Add a named custom script with Head placement, paste the verification tag, and save it.
Return to Search Console and choose Verify.
If Google does not detect a newly saved verification tag, allow a few minutes before trying verification again. Keep the verification tag installed after verification. Use the property address that matches your website, including its protocol and domain.
Submit the sitemap
In Search Console, open Sitemaps and submit sitemap.xml for the property. Review the submitted sitemap status. If a page has been removed from the sitemap in Durable, it will not be included there. Follow Manage page SEO, slugs, and redirects to review that page's sitemap setting, search details, and URL slug.
Request indexing for a page
Use Search Console's URL Inspection tool for the page you want to check. Follow the available test and indexing request options. Submitting the same page repeatedly does not move it forward in Google's crawl queue. Crawling can take days or weeks; monitor progress in URL Inspection. A request is not a guarantee of indexing or a fixed completion time.
Troubleshoot
Check that you entered the correct property address, saved the verification code in Head, and made the site accessible. Review any indexing explanation in Search Console. Removing a URL from a sitemap does not make it private or necessarily remove it from Google's index.
