Issue and Manage Cards

Create virtual and physical cards for your team, set spend controls, and replace or cancel cards.

Written by Mark

You can issue virtual and physical cards to anyone on your team, and control how much they can spend and where. Card spending comes out of the financial account you choose. Only the account owner can create and manage cards.

Cards can only be used for commercial purposes, and can't be used for personal, family, or household purposes.

Durable is not a bank or a money transmitter. Durable partners with Stripe Payments Company for money transmission services and account services with funds held at Fifth Third Bank N.A., Member FDIC.

Before you start

  • The cardholder needs to be on your team. To add them, see Invite and Manage Teammates.

  • Their legal name needs to be confirmed. You do this during setup, and the name on a physical card can't be changed later.

Create a card

  1. Click Money in the left sidebar, then Financial accounts.

  2. Click Create card.

  3. Choose the Cardholder.

  4. Choose Virtual to use the card online straight away, or Physical to have a card shipped.

  5. Choose the Financial account the card's spending comes out of.

  6. For a physical card, enter the recipient's name, shipping address, and phone number, then choose a Shipping service:

    • Standard: 5 to 8 business days

    • Express: about 4 business days

    • Priority: 2 to 3 business days

  7. Check the box to confirm the cardholder has agreed to the Celtic Bank Authorized User Terms and E-sign policy.

  8. Check Activate card to let them use it right away, or leave it unchecked to activate it later.

  9. Click Create card, then Done.

Find a card

On the Cards tab, use All, Active, Inactive, or Canceled to filter by status. You can also filter by Cardholder, Card type, or Created date.

View card details

Click a card to see its available spend and how much of its limit has been used. The card has three tabs:

  • Transactions: every purchase made with the card

  • Spend controls: its limits and allowed or blocked categories

  • Details: the card number, CVV, expiry date, cardholder, billing address, and a timeline of card events. Click Show card number to see the full number.

Set spend controls

New cards have a default limit of $500 a day. You can change or remove it.

  1. On the Spend controls tab, click Edit spend controls.

  2. To set a limit, enter an amount and how often it resets: every authorization, day, week, month, year, or all time. Click Add control.

  3. To limit where the card can be used, choose Allow or Block, pick a category such as Restaurants, and click Add control.

  4. Click Save changes.

Deactivate, replace, or cancel a card

Open the card, then choose:

  • Deactivate card to stop the card working for now.

  • Replace card if it's lost, stolen, or damaged. The cardholder gets a new card.

  • Cancel card to stop it permanently.

If a card is lost or you see a charge you don't recognize, deactivate or replace it straight away.
