Got something to sell? Whether it's handmade goods, a digital guide, or a service package, Sell lets you list it on your Durable website and take orders without setting up a separate online store. You create your items, Durable adds them to your site, and you manage every order from one place.
This article covers how selling works, what you can sell, and where everything lives. If you're ready to dive in, jump to Add and Customize Items for Sale, Manage Your Online Storefront, or Track and Fulfill Customer Orders.
How Selling Works
Here's the journey from your first item to your first order:
Create an item. In Sell, add a name, description, price, images, and any custom questions you want customers to answer.
Set shipping rates for physical items. In Sell, open Shop settings in the top right, then select Shipping rates. Create the delivery options customers can choose at checkout. For complete setup steps, see Add and Customize Items for Sale.
Publish it. The first time you publish an item, Durable offers to add an Items page to your website so visitors can browse what you sell.
Enable payments. Set up Durable Payments from the Enable payments to receive orders banner on the Sell page. Until payments are active, customers see Checkout coming soon when they try to check out. For setup steps, see How to Enable Payments in Durable.
Publish your website. Changes to your website save in the editor. Publish your website to make them visible to visitors.
Manage your orders. Durable emails you every time you make a sale and sends your customer an order confirmation. You can track each order's progress in Sell. Buyer details are saved to Customers automatically. See Managing Your Customer List in Durable.
What You Can Sell
Every item has a type, which you choose when you create it:
Physical product: Goods you ship or hand off yourself, like handmade crafts, apparel, or electronics.
Made-to-order: Products created after a customer places an order, such as custom artwork or personalized gifts.
Digital download: Files that customers can download after purchase, like e-books, templates, or music.
Service package: A service or package clients pay for, such as consultations, workshops, or beauty treatments.
Membership fee: Recurring payments for access to exclusive content, communities, or services.
Pre-order for pickup: Items ordered in advance and collected by the customer at a specified location.
Other: Flexible options for unique products or services that don't fit standard categories, allowing you to define your own fulfillment method.
Where to Manage Your Sales
Everything lives in Sell in the left sidebar. At the top of the page, three cards show this month's Revenue, Orders, and Best seller. Below them are two tabs:
Items: Create, edit, and organize all the products and services you offer. Each item shows its listing status, price, item type, categories, and when it was last updated.
Orders: See all incoming customer orders, track their status, and manage fulfillment. This tab appears once you've published an item.
