A name and email address may not tell you everything you need to respond to an inquiry. Custom fields let you collect useful details through your website's contact form, using fields you manage in Customers. This guide shows you how to add those fields, choose which are required, and test the answers visitors submit.

Prepare the fields

Create or manage custom fields under Customers → Settings. Existing custom fields can then be added to your website form. Follow Add and Manage Custom Fields for Your Contacts for the field setup.

Open the form's manual settings

  1. Open the page containing the contact form.

  2. Select its section and choose Edit manually beside Dru's input.

  3. Find Form fields and select Edit.

Add a custom field

  1. Choose + Add custom.

  2. In the field selector, find an existing field and choose Use.

  3. Review its Label and Type.

  4. Turn on Required if a visitor must complete it.

  5. Choose Done or the save control shown, then repeat for other fields.

Adjust standard fields

Use + Add phone when you need a phone-number field. Open an existing field with its edit control to review its label and required status. Some standard fields may always be required; follow the available controls. Remove optional fields you do not need using their delete control.

Review and publish

Choose Done to finish the form fields, then finish the manual section panel. Preview the form on desktop and mobile and publish when ready. Send a test submission to check required-field behavior and confirm the custom answers are stored with the inquiry.

Custom contact fields are separate from custom questions on Sell items or booking services. To change the form's recipient or the message shown after submission, follow Add and customize a contact form.
